A bespoke colour palette, thoughtfully curated for the way you live.
Colour is one of the most researched and least resolved decisions in any home — because without considering how light, scale and atmosphere interact, even the most carefully chosen shade can disappoint on the wall.
The Palette Studio is a colour-focused consultancy service designed to bring cohesion and confidence to your home — with a long-view approach that allows your palette to evolve as your space, family and tastes change over time.
Whether you're working around existing furniture and finishes or starting from scratch, we help you define a colour direction that feels calm, considered and timeless, with room to grow. We approach colour as a framework rather than a fixed decision — creating palettes that can be adapted and built upon over time.
This service focuses on how colour behaves in your space: how it affects mood, how rooms connect, and how a palette can evolve with your home.
What's included
Personal Video Consultation
We begin with a one-to-one 30-minute consultation to talk through your completed questionnaire, your space, and how you want your home to feel. This ensures your colour palette reflects both your taste and the realities of daily life.
Bespoke Colour Palette Document
The heart of your service. A working reference document — designed to be returned to — containing your curated colour scheme, clearly specified paint options, and the full rationale behind every decision. Each palette is developed with careful consideration of light, scale and atmosphere, and includes a dedicated Colour Evolution Guide: a forward-looking framework that shows how your scheme can be adapted, deepened and built upon as your home and tastes change over time. This is not a snapshot — it's a foundation.
Decoration Direction
Where appropriate, a wallpaper or panelling suggestion to add depth, texture and character — helping the palette feel layered and more personal.
5-Day Review Window
Once your design pack has been delivered, you'll have five working days to review the proposal and share any refinement requests aligned with the original brief.
2-Week Check-In
We'll follow up two weeks after delivery simply to see how things are settling — and to make sure you feel confident moving forward.
Delivered within 2–3 weeks of your discovery call.
How to Prepare
Complete your questionnaire thoughtfully
Ahead of your discovery call, you'll receive a short questionnaire asking about your space, lifestyle and design preferences. We'll also ask for a few photographs of the room — including any existing furniture, finishes or artwork you'd like to work around.
Note your room's orientation
Knowing whether your room faces north, south, east or west is one of the most important factors in how colour behaves in a space. If you're unsure, a compass app on your phone will give you the answer in seconds.
Think about how you want the space to feel
Rather than focusing on specific colours, it's often more helpful to reflect on how you'd like the room to feel — calm, warm, playful, cocooning, light, grounded. This emotional starting point guides every colour decision we make.
Gather your references
If you have images, interiors or spaces you're drawn to, feel free to share them. A handful of instinctive references is more than enough to guide our starting point — and if you're working from a blank canvas, we'll help you find one together.
Consider the surrounding spaces
If the room connects visually to others in your home, think about how you'd like them to flow together. We'll help you create cohesion across neighbouring rooms as part of the process.
No measurements or samples required
There's no need to measure the room or order paint samples in advance. The Palette Studio is about setting the direction and giving you clarity — practical next steps follow once your palette is in place.
FAQs
Is this service just for one room?
The Palette Studio is typically focused on one room, but we always consider how colour flows into adjoining spaces to ensure cohesion throughout your home.
Can you work with existing furniture or finishes?
Absolutely. We often design palettes around pieces you already own and love — working with what's there is very much part of our approach.
Will I receive paint codes and clear recommendations?
Yes. Your Bespoke Colour Palette Document includes clearly specified paint options and decoration guidance, so you can move forward with confidence.
What is the Colour Evolution Guide?
A forward-looking framework included within your Bespoke Colour Palette Document, showing how your colour scheme can be adapted, deepened and built upon as your home and tastes change over time. It's designed to ensure your palette has longevity — growing with your home rather than dating it.
Can I use this service as a starting point before booking another?
Yes. Many clients begin with The Palette Studio to establish a confident colour foundation, then build on that with The Refined Room or The Signature Room as their project develops. Each service is designed to stand alone but works beautifully as part of a wider design journey.
Do you offer implementation or on-site support?
No — Kalido & Co. provides design consultancy and creative direction only. Your design pack gives you everything you need to implement at your own pace and with complete confidence.
